Knowing Our Limits
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.1 Corinthians 10:12-14 (in Context) 1 Corinthians 10 (Whole Chapter)
Have you ever wondered why everyone is not saved and walking with Christ? Sometimes I wonder why is it that we’re all not walking with Him? As I thought about this today, the Lord reminded me about 1 Cor. 10:13 and through that has revealed that He gives everyone the opportunity to do what is right, but some instead of choosing the way out of it, chooses to allow it to control their lives.
Laziness is so easy, for all you have to do is nothing. Many people just accept the trial that they’re in as their lot in life but don’t learn how to rise above their trials. Many people allow themselves to become expert wallowers (to roll around in) in their own sorrow and sufferings.
One of the greatest gifts God has given us is the right to choose. And, because of this, we need to learn how to press in to Him. James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:6-8 (in Context) James 4 (Whole Chapter) Unfortunately, many times we allow sin to take us where ever it wants to. Christ is returning for those who are tired of allowing sin and this world telling them how to live and where to go. He is not coming back for those who are being overcome but for those who by His Grace are overcoming. Revelation 2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. Revelation 2:6-8 (in Context) Revelation 2 (Whole Chapter) and again in Revelation 2:17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it. Revelation 2:16-18 (in Context) Revelation 2 (Whole Chapter) and again in Revelation 2:26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations— Revelation 2:25-27 (in Context) Revelation 2 (Whole Chapter) and again in Revelation 3:21 To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. Revelation 3:20-22 (in Context) Revelation 3 (Whole Chapter).
I love what our Brother Bill Gothard said at one of this “Basic Youth Conferences” it was “Freedom is not the right to do what you want but the power to do what you ought”. For our old nature only wants to sin but if we by the Spirit of God are putting to death the deeds of the flesh than we will live. Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, Romans 8:12-14 (in Context) Romans 8 (Whole Chapter) To know our limits is to know our freedom. For apart from limits there is only chaos and destruction. God is free within the limits of His nature, which are Holiness and Love, and within those He is free! How His heart desire us to be Free in Him. Galatians 5:1 [ Freedom in Christ ] It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1-3 (in Context) Galatians 5 (Whole Chapter). To surrender ourselves to be slaves of Christ is to surrender our lives to Joy and Peace beyond our wildest dreams. But to surrender ourselves to be slaves to our old nature which is to live for what our eyes can see and what our hands can touch is to live bound by death and destruction; Romans 6:16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? Romans 6:15-17 (in Context) Romans 6 (Whole Chapter).
Knowing our limits is to know our Liberty in Christ. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:22-24 (in Context) Romans 6 (Whole Chapter) For who He sets free is Free indeed!; John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:35-37 (in Context) John 8 (Whole Chapter)
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the Joys that surrender to Your Love and Righteousness brings us. Ever teach us how to surrender more to Your loving Heart. In Jesus Glorious Name, Amen.
